For the Love of Artwork

Nothing adds life to a simple wall more than a beautiful or inspiring piece of art.

Since sharing on Instagram, I have received many questions and wonderful comments regarding the artwork in our farmhouse. I have decided to share with you some of the resources I used to find our pieces so that you can use them as inspiration too.

When we moved to the farmhouse, I knew I wanted a common theme throughout the house when it came to artwork on the walls. My goal was to keep the walls relatively simple. I wanted to focus on big pieces art on the large walls that encompassed a farmhouse feel. I chose barns and nature as my theme. I spent a lot of time researching online to find the perfect pieces for our home. After extensive research, I came across DeAnn out of Nashville, Tennessee. She has the most incredible story and her paintings are absolutely stunning. She focuses on angels, churches, and my favorite, barns. The neural palate she uses of white, cream, beige, grey and blue makes all of her paintings work in just about any kind of room with any style of decor. She is by far and away my favorite artist today. Artwork1I found a few pieces of art for our home through Nordstrom. Back in California when I shopped at Nordstrom, I always loved their home department. Although it’s not a big department, it always seemed like when I shopped there I found something I loved. I bought this reclaimed wood piece as a house warming gift to ourselves before we moved. Do people do that? Well, I did! The minute I read this piece, I felt like it was made for our family. I loved the words and I knew there was going to be a perfect place in the farmhouse for this piece. It’s in our living room now, where we spend all our time and it’s just perfect there.

Our sun room is very bright and mostly windows. Although there isn’t a lot of wall space, there are two relatively short walls on either side of the large entry between the living room and sunroom. I found these two nature pieces online, called Morning Vistas by Uttermost at Nordstrom. I was attracted to them for their rustic look and the dark frames and the blue tones in the painting that tied in with the furniture in the room. I also loved that they came as a set. I have one on either side of the entrance and they tie in with the room perfectly.

ArtworkIn the eating area of our kitchen, we have a wall that separates the kitchen from the dining room. I had a barn door installed on the kitchen side to add privacy to the dining room when we entertain. In order to break that wall up a bit I added six hand painted small botanical prints that I bought on Etsy and framed myself.

I hope these resources help if you find yourself looking for ways to bring life to your walls. I tried to provide you with a variety of styles and ideas. When it comes to picking out artwork, I think the best rule of thumb is follow your heart. Choose pieces that make you feel good and that make your space feel complete. Have a great day, my friends!

Hi Stephanie! Thank you for visiting, welcome! I appreciate your kind words and compliments. When designing the interior of our home, my goal was to create a calm, inviting, and comfortable feel. I’m so happy that is what I achieved. The color of the walls is Sherwin-Williams, Bungalow Beige. It is a nice cool beige without any pink or purple tones. I get a ton of inquiries about it. Thank you for your interest and for asking. I hope you will continue to visit. It is nice to meet you!
