Summer Bedroom Decorating Tip 1

The Power of Flowers – Adding fresh flowers in summer adds new life, a touch of color, and beauty to any bedroom.
When I think of summer, the first things I think of are sunshine and flowers. In summer everything outside is in its prime. Plants, vegetables, fruits, and flowers are at their peak of beauty thanks to the bountiful sunshine. Peonies, daisies, zinnias, cosmos, and hydrangea blooms (just to name a few) are bursting adding color and life all around. Seeing this beauty, color, and life outside is incredibly uplifting. It’s such a lovely sight!
Therefore, it only makes sense to bring the beauty, color, and life of fresh flowers into the bedroom upon the arrival of summer. A simple vase filled with summer blooms is the perfect way to perk up the bedroom after the winter doldrums and serenity of spring.
Of course, I will always be partial to fresh flowers, especially in spring and summer. However, I realize that sometimes that’s just not a possibility. If you can’t get your hands on fresh hydrangeas, roses, daisies, or alstroemeria, faux flowers are also an equally beautiful and colorful addition to the bedroom.
Two tips when adding flowers to the home:
- A great way to make faux flowers appear like real blooms is to add some water to the vessel.
- Don’t be afraid to get creative when it comes to vases. Some of my favorite vases to arrange flowers in the farmhouse are canisters and carafes (with their lids/tops removed).

Let the Light Shine Bright – Accentuate and enhance natural light by adding a mirror.
I don’t know about you, but after the dark winter months and many cloudy spring days, I find myself craving sunshine. If your bedroom is like ours and doesn’t have big beautiful windows to let the sunlight in, you can capture natural light through the reflection of a mirror.
I added a mirror on my side of the bed above the nightstand to balance out the window on the other side of the bed. I also added a mirror on the wall above our dresser to reflect the light coming in through the windows on the opposite side of the room. Together, these mirrors add beauty and shine. The extra light in our bedroom helps to brighten it up.
Here are a few of my current favorite mirrors:

Dream a Little Dream – Create a bright, light, and airy feel with neutral or white bedding.
Envision sleeping on clouds. I think they would be amazing to sleep on, so comfy and cozy. It’s no secret that I love white bedding. It’s so dreamy, like sleeping on a cloud!
White or neutral bedding is a beautiful way to brighten any bedroom. It adds a light and airy feel. In spring and summer linen is my fabric of choice. The relaxed and casual look of linen combined with the featherweight and soft feel is perfect for the warmer months of summer. And don’t sweat the wrinkles, embrace them. After all, it’s summer!
Add some whimsy to summer bedding with the addition of ruffles, lace, embroidery, or ribbon. They are a lovely way to accent white and neutral bedding.
The soft and dainty look of white linen is the perfect contrast to the dark iron Wesley Allen Inc. Laredo bed frame in our bedroom. Linen always looks beautiful against dark and light wood finishes too.

Layer Upon Layer – Light layers create a cozy feel and add texture.
Although the weather is warm in summer, it is easy to create a cozy feel in the bedroom. Think light layers. Adding light layers to the bed with linen, organic cotton, and thin knit blankets creates a feeling of cozy comfort in your summer bedroom without adding bulk to the bed.

Floral Print Fun – Floral prints and patterns are always a fun way to celebrate summer.
Whether you love bold or subtle prints, floral prints and patterns are always a perfect addition to the bedroom in spring and summer. Throw pillows, blankets, and sheets with flowers on them are a beautiful way to add color, texture, and a seasonal touch to the bed.
Along with floral fabrics, floral wall art adds a beautiful pop of color to any bedroom. Adding prints in vibrant colors creates a happy and festive feel, while peaceful pastels create serene summer vibes.
